This course provides a comprehensive understanding of the Maritime Labour Convention 2006 (MLC 2006) and its 2016 amendments. Participants will gain insights into the rights and protections afforded to seafarers, the responsibilities of ship-owners and maritime employers, and the role of flag and port states in enforcing the Convention. The course includes theoretical foundations, practical applications, and case studies to equip learners with the knowledge needed to ensure compliance and promote maritime labour rights.
The program provides an outline of the purpose of the MLC - 2006 (Maritime Labour Convention 2006) -MLC amendments 2016, what it contains and how it works. Implementation and enforcement are dealt with in some detail. The Program encourages thought and understanding about what the Convention means for the individual and their role within their organization.
